Materials described here consist of correspondence pertaining to touring arrangements as well as schedules, reports, lists of works and loan agreements, label captions and bios of artists. Also found here are press releases and news clippings about the exhibition from the foreign press.

The materials described here primarily consist of audio recordings of interviews made by George Swinton while on his 1957 trip to the Eastern Arctic. The content primarily consists of George Swinton questioning Hudson’s Bay Company post employees, missionaries, and artists about Inuit carvings and motivations of the makers. Not all the recordings were dated. Ina addition, four items date from 1964 and 1965 and consist of copies of interviews of George Swinton. A recording of George Swinton reading from his manuscript Sculpture of the Eskimo dates from 1972. Interviews by George Swinton of the Cape Dorset artists Kiawak and Pauta Saila date from 1984.

Materials described here consist of bibliographies of published materials on the subjects of Inuit art and culture. It is assumed that these bibliographies were collected by George Swinton in the course of his research activities, especially pertaining to the publication of his books Eskimo Sculpture published in 1965 and Sculpture of the Eskimo published in 1972.

Materials described here consist of correspondence of the progress of the “Biographies” project; lists of names, biographical and autobiographical information and some photographs; reports on the progress of the “Biographies” project; and a copy of the Keewatin district portion of the project.
